Incumbent Deputy Mayor Elie Y. Katz today filed petitions to run for Re-Election in the November 8th election. Katz, who previously served as Mayor of the township, has a lengthy list of accomplishments over the past 25 years for residents that he would like to continue to build upon to help improve their quality of life.

Deputy Mayor Ellie Katz added: “We do not want you to get sick, and we do not want you to make somebody else sick. If you go out, please practice social distancing.”

"Even while she was in the hospital suffering and waiting for her test results and having difficulty breathing, she was still on the phone with me and emailing and sending me instructions on the pantry," said Teaneck Deputy Mayor Elie Katz, who wrote a speech that was read at Preschel's funeral service on Wednesday.

Over the last 20 years, Katz has been a prominent figure on the political circuit in Teaneck. Having served eight years as Teaneck mayor/deputy mayor, and 20 years on the Teaneck township council, his accomplishments include millions of dollars in new revenue through responsible development as well as a 0 percent municipal tax increase for three straight years.

“There is nobody that has had any interaction with Teaneck government in the last 20 years that doesn’t know Joan Davis,” said Elie Y. Katz, a councilman and a former mayor of Teaneck.

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) took part in a Teaneck Community Interfaith Call with local North Jersey officials and faith leaders, organized for members of the community to be able to come together despite social distancing and quarantining measures in place to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
